About Us

1- Summer Junior Baseball and T-Ball

The Eastern Suburbs Junior Baseball Club covers Sydney's eastern suburbs and caters for players from 6 years to 16 years old. The club has been operating since 1992 and incorporated in 1998.

Baseball is a great fun game for children of both sexes in mixed teams involving batting, running and ball handling skills. Children can commence at around 6 years of age playing T-Ball as Under 8 year olds where all games are at our home field. Inter-club games begin for Under 10 year olds in Zooka (machine pitch), and pitch baseball as Under 12 year olds to Under 17 year olds. To play in an age group, the player's age is taken as up to, but not including, the 31st September during the season.

The Eastern Suburbs Junior Baseball League ("Dolphins") is non-profit, volunteer run, and we need the support of parents in coaching, umpiring, scoring, team management, administration, canteen or as general volunteers. Please consider helping us provide your child with access to this exciting sport! To volunteer contact the Club President (Refer to CONTACTS US page).

WHERE DO WE PLAY? Our permanent home baseball fields are located at Chifley Sports Reserve, Bunnerong Road Chifley- opposite the cemetary gates. We are a member club of the Cronulla Junior Baseball Association comprising 12 or so clubs.  For inter-club competition, approximately half of team games are played at Chifley baseball fields, with the remainder played at fields throughout Cronulla-Sutherland area.

WHEN DO WE PLAY? The Dolphins play summer season baseball on Saturday. T-Ball play between 9am and 12 midday in short, fast games of 1 hour.

For inter-club teams, Littel League (LL) minor machine pitch "Zooka" play from 9.00-10.15am or 10.45-12.00 noon. LL minor and major player pitch play 8.30-10.00 or 10.45-12.15. Intermediate League play 8.30-10.15am or 10.45-12.30 or 1pm-2.45pm or 3.30pm-5.15pm time slot. Junior League, Senior League  play at 1.00-3.00pm or 3.30-5.30pm. Players are expected at the field 30 minutes prior to start time for warm ups!

HOW LONG IS THE SEASON? Enrolments are taken in June and July. Teams are generally finalised by late July, SO EARLY ENROLMENT IS ESSENTIAL. Training begins in mid-late August weekly. Inter-club competition commences early September and continues through until early March. Training day and time is not avavilable until closer to the start of the training, but is on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evening. Due to the COVID19 pandemic dates have been delayed and summer 2020/21 will now commence one month late on 10th October for juniors.

UNIFORMS AND EQUIPMENT For inter-club teams, each player must purchase their own baseball glove and club uniform (comprising cap, shirt, pants, socks). All other equipment (bat, balls, helmets etc) is provided. Sneakers are normally all that is required for footwear for the lower levels. For LL majors teams and older studs (plastic) are recommended.

T ball players get a special introductory price that includes a T shirt, cap, and baseball glove and is excellent value which they get to keep at season conclusion.

REGISTRATIONS Registrations are held in June/July. Dates will be advertised via email to players and those who have registered their email address with the club. Every attempt is made to accommodate all those who register, but this depends on the number of teams that can be formed and number of coaches available.

Registration fee payment is only onl-line via the national baseball system. The club will advise when you can log in and pay for your childs registration.

CLUB PHILOSOPHY Our Club’s primary aim is to help teach young players to learn T-ball and baseball, have healthy fun, as well as develop teamwork, sportsmanship, respect for self and others and giving their best! Our Club motto is "Strive to Win".
